1961 Jazz LP Repressed – The tenor sax legend’s 1961 Blue Note debut. Recorded at the Van Gelder Studio, Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey, on 6th May 1961. A rebirth for the jazz icon after a decade in which drug addiction and legal troubles limited his output. Featuring a top-flight quintet including trumpeter Freddie Hubbard, pianist Horace Parlan, bassist George Tucker and drummer Al Harewood. Showcasing bluesy hard-bop originals like Society Red and also a famous take on the ballad You’ve Changed. The classic cover was designed by Reid Miles and photographed by Francis Wolff.
