Synth Pop LP – Originally Released in 1988 & Repressed – ntrospective is the third studio album from the Pet Shop Boys, an English electronic music group who achieved international success in the 1980’s and 90’s. The album is the band’s second best-selling record, behind their fifth release, Very.
The album is noticeably a Pet Shop Boys record, but compared to their previous offerings there is an increasing attention to orchestration using real orchestras – and with this a better production quality is evident. The album also took a different approach to other pop releases at the time in that it is made up of longer tracks, and the singles off the back of Introspective were actually shorter than the original album versions.
Introspective was well received critically and peaked in the UK at #2 in the album charts.
